Wheels Up Home School Mountain Bike Program
Week Progressive Riding Program (Levels 1 &2)
The Wheels Up Home School Mountain Bike Program is designed for riders who want to build confidence, skills, and independence on their bikes while having fun and exploring new trails. This program blends skill development, trail riding, and community in a supportive and encouraging environment.
We now offer two class levels to better match rider experience and progression.
Level 1: Intro to Mountain Biking
For beginner riders and first-time participants
This class is designed for riders who are new to mountain biking but can confidently ride a bike on their own. Riders should be comfortable starting, stopping, steering, and riding on neighborhood streets or paths.
Throughout the 5-week program, riders will:
- Learn foundational mountain bike skills used across all disciplines
- Build confidence through structured skill progressions and fun games
- Practice braking, balance, body position, and trail awareness
- Experience guided trail rides inspired by our Trail Ranger program
- Learn how to ride safely and respectfully in group settings
This class blends skill instruction, games, and trail exploration to create a fun and welcoming introduction to mountain biking. 2 hours per session
Ideal for:
Riders approximately ages 7–11 who are new to off-road riding and ready to grow their skills.
Level 2: Progression & Trail Skills
For riders ready for more challenge and variety
Level 2 is designed for riders who have completed Level 1 or have equivalent experience and are ready for more technical terrain and longer rides. This class focuses on expanding skills, confidence, and adaptability on a wider range of trails.
Riders will:
- Build on foundational skills with increased trail difficulty
- Learn advanced cornering, line choice, and terrain management
- Ride a greater variety of trails and trail features
- Gain confidence riding longer distances and varied terrain
- Continue developing trail awareness and riding etiquette
This class is ideal for riders who are motivated to progress and enjoy being challenged in a supportive coaching environment. Riders can range from 10-15 years old. 2 hours per session. Important: Riders who have not completed Level 1 must complete a private evaluation lesson to confirm readiness for Level 2.
